CMPD makes arrest more than 4 years after man's shooting death

Aric Adams

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested and charged a suspect in the 2014 murder of 29-year-old Romon Williams.

Police charged 25-year-old Aric Adams with the murder Tuesday morning.

Detectives said information and evidence gathered during the investigation led them to identify Adams as the suspect.

Police then obtained warrants against Adams for murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Williams was found shot to death on Feb. 18, 2014 after officers responded to Barrington Drive near Milton Drive for an assault with deadly weapon call.

Police believe the shooting was drug related and not a random act of violence based on evidence gathered from the scene.
