CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police are trying to figure out who shot someone at a west Charlotte convenience store around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Workers at the Circle-K convenience store on Little Rock Road in west Charlotte say they saw a man running away from the scene.

The victim was rushed to the hospital.

Police told Eyewitness News Wednesday morning the person who was shot in the robbery works at the store.

Police also say they believe the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Witnesses say they heard four gunshots and saw someone run from the store.

The employee who was shot was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition Wednesday morning.

Darren Jackson says he comes to the store regularly.

“I think it was wrong, real spiteful. It should not have been done. Especially since it’s a neighborhood store,” Jackson said.

Police say they are still looking for the suspect.
