Police investigating after person shot multiple times near southwest Charlotte motel

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a person was shot multiple times near a southwest Charlotte motel.

The shooting happened shortly before 5 a.m. at an Extended Stay on Yorkmont Road near South Tryon Street.

MEDIC said the victim has serious injuries, but is expected to be OK.

Police said they responded to the motel early Wednesday morning for a disturbance, but they said they are still working to determine if the two calls are connected.

No arrests have been made.

Yorkmont Road was closed while law enforcement continues to investigate the scene.
