Charlotte contract worker accused of taking $50k

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after CATS said a worker for a contractor embezzled $50,000 from them.

The contractor, Central Parking, collected fines for people who ride the Lynx trains without paying. The city said a worker funneled off the money after it was collected.

CATS caught on during a financial audit and CATS said it stopped using Central Parking and now collects the money on its own.

Central Parking has agreed to pay CATS back.
