Police investigating report of elderly woman sexually assaulted at assisted living center

Police are investigating a report that an elderly woman may have been sexually assaulted at a Mint Hill assisted living facility.

Mint Hill police said an 86-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital May 14 with trauma consistent with being sexually assaulted.

The woman was a resident at the Lawyers Glen Assisted Living Center.

The woman died three days later in the hospital, police said.

The news stunned residents’ families.

“It really hurts, it hurts really bad,” said Norma Frazier.

Channel 9 tried to get answers about the investigation from administrators and is still waiting on their response. The only thing administrators have shared is they are cooperating with authorities.

Mint Hill police released a statement to Channel 9, saying in part: “The investigation is on-going and investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the injuries and the death.”

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
