Police looking for suspect in string of business break-ins in downtown Hickory

HICKORY, N.C. — Police are searching for a suspect accused of breaking into several businesses in Hickory on Friday night.

Hickory police said they are looking for 44-year-old Chad Byrd, who is wanted on three counts of felony breaking and entering.

The break-ins happened between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday.

Professional Cleaners on 3rd Street NW, Brahman Graphx on 2nd Street SW and Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse on 2nd Street NW all reported break-ins. Police said doors or windows were shattered during a forced entry of each business.

Throughout the investigation, Byrd was identified as a suspect and warrants were issued for his arrest.

Officers are investigating additional breaking and entering cases in the Hickory downtown area, but it is unknown if Byrd is a suspect in those cases.
