Police: Man demands pizza, to marry Paris Hilton in Saturday standoff

BELMONT, N.C. — A man who had barricaded himself in a Belmont hotel room was pepper sprayed and taken into custody Saturday after a standoff with police that lasted several hours.

According to police, 61-year-old Fredrick Denny barricaded himself inside his room at the Hampton Inn and threatened to shoot at police unless they met his demands, which included a pizza and a marriage to Paris Hilton.

The second floor of the hotel was temporarily shut down while police defused the situation, officials confirmed.

Denny had also apparently caused a disturbance at the hotel earlier in the day, officials said.

After Denny was subdued, he was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
