Police search for gunman after fatal Salisbury shooting

SALISBURY, N.C. — Salisbury Police said Tuesday they're searching for the gunman in an early-morning shooting.

It was almost 1 a.m. when someone shot Marquis Feamster, 23, in the back on East Fisher Street.

"I didn't know who to call, what to do.  Just got in my car and came straight up here," said the victim's cousin, Antoinette Wisely.

Feamster's family rushed to the scene, devastated to see another relative killed by gun violence.

In 2007, police said his sister Treasure Feamster, 13, was shot and killed during a gang shootout at a birthday party. It happened about a mile away from Tuesday's crime scene.

Marquis' cousin, Eric Feamster, was shot to death last year at a Salisbury Apartment Complex.  Both of those crimes were solved.  However police didn't have any suspects in Tuesday's crime.

They said they didn't believe it was connected to the other shootings.

Family members said Marquis has a young daughter and he had just moved back to Salisbury and into that house on East Fisher Street.
