Police warn of more victims after man accused of child pornography

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Police in Gaston County are warning there could be more victims of a suspected pedophile after he was arrested on child sex charges.

Investigators said earlier this month, someone provided them with a hard drive belonging to Allen Sinclair Jr.

On the hard drive, authorities said they discovered multiple pictures of Sinclair with a 4-year-old girl in her underwear.

"We were able to make the distinction that it was Mr. Sinclair due to some distinctive tattoos that he had," Sgt. Scott Bates said.

Police said Sinclair took the photos while he was staying with the victim's family in Lowell.

Investigators said Sinclair, who is homeless, was taken in by the family and may have taken the photos while he was babysitting the girl when her parents went out on a date night.

"It's heartbreaking, disturbing, very disturbing to see pictures like this," Bates said.

Bates said police are investigating the possibility of other victims due to Sinclair's transient lifestyle.

"The places that he has stayed and lived, there have been children present at those locations," Bates said.

Sinclair has a criminal record but no prior sex charges. Friday in court he begged the judge to reduce his bond so he could get out of jail.

"It would be greatly appreciated, $1 million - I mean, look at the world we live in. I can't make a $1 million bond," Sinclair said.

The judge denied the request. Sinclair's next court appearance is June 12.
