Power restored in south Charlotte after crash takes out power pole

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A major south Charlotte road was closed overnight following a crash. Police said a driver hot a power pole on Providence Road near Fairview Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The driver was fine but the accident knocked out power to nearly 2,000 people.

The road was reopened just after 6 a.m. and crews were working on restoring power in the area.
