HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — The former Rosenwald School on Dellwood Drive in Huntersville opened in 1925 as one of the first schools for African Americans in the South.
[Community center set to be torn down is given new life]
The building is now known as the Torrence-Lytle Community Center after the town bought it in 1958.
A proposed land swap could bring a development with 101 single-family homes on the adjacent land, including a portion of the property where the center sits.
In the video at the top of this webpage, Channel 9 reporter Anthony Kustura talks to some in the community who don’t think the development is such a good idea.
