• Protest gets heated Thursday in Marshall Park

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Protesters started shouting at each other Thursday at Marshall Park, where they had gathered for another round of rallies.

Jill Stein, the Green party candidate for president, and several others held a news conference at the Occupy camp.

Stein said she represents the 99 percent that have been covered in the news. She said Democrats and Republicans are selling a recovery that isn't real.

Some of the members of the Occupy movement started yelling that they didn't want to be the backdrop for the press conference and it turned into a shouting match.

The shouting continued back and forth for about 20 minutes.

It didn't get violent, but it was heated. Police were nearby to monitor the situation.

An organizer stepped in and said protesters would be starting their march at 11 a.m. instead of 12 p.m. and the situation was defused.
