Officer, investigators recall Cherica Adams shooting, Rae Carruth 19 years later

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Peter Grant said he still remembers where he was on Nov. 16, 1999 when he got the call of a shooting on Rea Road.

The patient on the scene turned out to be Cherica Adams. The pregnant 24-year-old died after being shot multiple times by a man who said former Carolina Panther Rae Carruth paid him to do it.

Watch the video above for reporter Mark Becker’s interview with Grant 19 years after the crime, as he recalls what he saw and heard from Adams on the scene.
