Rain to lift into area in afternoon as cold air moves in

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The sunshine won't return to the area until Thursday.

Clouds will stay thick over the Carolinas Wednesday thanks to a weather system sitting just off the coast.

Rain will lift into the area from the south Wednesday afternoon.

Communities in upstate South Carolina and east of Charlotte will see the best chance for showers.

Areas north of Charlotte into the foothills and mountains will likely stay dry.

Wednesday's high temperature will only reach 50 degrees, which sits nearly 15 degrees colder than Tuesday.
