Real estate roundup: A look at the latest residential projects in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte area’s multifamily pipeline continues to grow.

Rezoning petitions for a couple of apartment developments received the green light in June from Charlotte City Council. One of those projects will add 325 apartments in SouthPark — at a former Fifth Third Bank branch at 6310 Fairview Road. The other petition approved last month by City Council allows for a transit-oriented development on 2.5 acres at Dunavant and Distribution streets in South End. Plans there call for a 400-unit upscale apartment development, although a ground breaking likely won’t take place for at least another year.

And less than two miles away from that South End site, a townhouse development, called Altura SouthEnd, is taking shape between West Palmer Street and West Carson Boulevard, just off Interstate 277, in the Gold District. That property, at just over an acre, will house 31 three-bedroom, three-and-half-bathroom townhouses once the project is complete.
