CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As more new apartment communities across the Charlotte area have delivered in recent weeks, other multifamily projects are just getting underway.
The first residents have begun moving into a highly anticipated apartment development in Charlotte's bustling South End neighborhood: Novel Atherton. That 346-unit, mid-rise apartment community represents the multifamily component of a $100 million revamp by Crescent Communities and Edens, which is adding 60,500 square feet of new retail at the site. The property, totaling 110,000 square feet of retail, has already seen several new retailers open up shop there, including Uniquities, Madewell and Barry's Boot Camp.

And in the northern part of Charlotte, an apartment community called The Villas at Mallard Creek has recently wrapped up, bringing 179 more units to market in the University area.
Not far from that 8-acre site is Mallard Pointe Apartments, a 260-unit apartment project that broke ground on Oct. 1.
