Recall alert: Stainless steel sippy cups recalled due to risk of lead poisoning

CHARLOTTE — A North Carolina-based company has announced it will be recalling its stainless steel sippy cups due to the risk of lead poisoning.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Green Sprouts has recalled three products.

This recall impacts more than 10,000 bottles.

The company said the bases of the sippy cups can break off, exposing consumers to components that contain lead.

If you own one of the bottles being recalled, you are asked to throw them away and contact the company for a refund.

Lead is toxic if ingested and can cause lasting health problems.

Green Spouts said it does not plan to use lead in any future products.
