CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are warning residents in one west Charlotte neighborhood to beware of a peeping Tom.

A woman who lives at Colonial Place Apartments told police a man stood on her air conditioner unit and peered through her bedroom window.

The woman said she jumped, got her gun and called police.

The man took off in some nearby woods.

Police brought out dogs to try and track down the man, but he got away.

Apartment managers sent out letters warning residents to be on alert.

The victim said she's never been so violated.

"I literally stood there and I was in shock I'm shaking, but at the same time, my quick reflexes, I got my phone and my gun," the woman said.

CMPD said the peeping Tom is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches, 150 pounds with small build.

He was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans.

If you know anything about this case, call police.
