Residents in Hudson area asked to shelter in place after gas line severed

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Piedmont Natural Gas main gas line has been severed at 3255 Hickory Blvd. near Smokey Mountain Furniture. Nearby residents should shelter in place and limit time outdoors. Residents should be cognizant of new onset of headache, dizziness and nausea.


Residents who live near a severed, natural gas line in Caldwell County have been advised to shelter in place and limit time outside, officials said.

The Piedmont Natural gas line was compromised mid-Thursday afternoon at 3255 Hickory Boulevard in the Hudson area.

U.S. 321 was shut down between Mission and Pine Mountain roads in both directions. Officials advised motorists use alternate routes and be prepared for delays.

Repairs are expected to take approximately 10 hours to complete.

Piedmont Natural Gas is on-site along with Hudson Fire, Sawmills Fire, Hudson Police Department, NC Highway Patrol, and Caldwell County Emergency Management are on site.
