CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A couple of restaurant closures in uptown Charlotte made waves in recent weeks.
First, Cantina 1511 shuttered its doors at the corner of Fifth and College streets during the last weekend in September. Open for less than a year, the contemporary Mexican restaurant cited slower traffic, ongoing staffing issues and its large amount of square footage in uptown as factors behind the closure.

And a couple of weeks later, another uptown restaurant — this one in business for a decade — announced it was closing at the EpiCentre. Libretto’s Pizzeria informed diners via Facebook of its decision to close.
The other Charlotte-area locations for both of those restaurants are expected to remain open.
October also brought with it a plethora of brewery-related news, from a few new taprooms slated across the region to Fort Mill’s first brewery closing down operations in September after about three years.
