CHARLOTTE, N.C. — May brought with it the closing of a longtime South End establishment as Pike’s Old Fashioned Soda Shop shuttered its doors, but it may be only a matter of time before it opens another location in the Charlotte area.
In its Facebook post announcing the closure, Pike’s thanked customers for their support during the restaurant’s 20-year run at 1930 Camden Road in South End. The soda shop also said that an “announcement of our new location” would be posted on its social-media channels.
While Charlotte lost that staple in May, the area added a new nanobrewery in NoDa and a frozen sweets shop at Concord Mills — in addition to receiving confirmation of the local market’s second Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which is set to open this summer at Park Road Shopping Center.
Through CBJ’s Restaurant Bites feature, check out the accompanying photo gallery for a full recap of which restaurants, bars and breweries opened or closed last month across the Charlotte area and what’s still to come in the months ahead as reported by our staffers.
