Restaurant Bites: What’s new and coming soon to a menu near you

CHARLOTTE — October brought with it more permanent closures for a number of Charlotte-area restaurants. But, on the other hand, several restaurant operators opted to move forward with expansion plans.

Local establishments that closed for good last month include newer additions and long-standing spots alike. In uptown, French brasserie La Belle Helene and sister concept Parliament Espresso & Coffee closed at the 300 South Tryon Building after less than three years. Other restaurants to shutter that had been part of the local culinary scene for decades include Jimmie’s Restaurant in Mint Hill and The White Horse Restaurant in Rock Hill.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, other concepts are forging ahead despite the ongoing economic blow dealt by the COVID-19 pandemic. To name a few: Snooze, an A.M. Eatery just opened its second Charlotte location in South End — following a first in Plaza Midwood, neighborhood burger joint Ace No. 3 has snagged two more Charlotte-area sites, Dilworth Tasting Room is adding a location in SouthPark, and Link & Pin recently opened in Huntersville, with more locations to come.

The latest installment of Restaurant Bites rounds up the latest restaurant news in the Charlotte area as reported by CBJ staffers in October.
