Restaurant Bites: What’s new and coming soon to a menu near you

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte’s bar and restaurant scene continues to see new additions despite it being nearly a year since operators here have been grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic.

A restaurant dishing up Asian comfort food in Plaza Midwood and an upscale cigar lounge and whiskey bar for South End are among some of the establishments that debuted in February. Several others will open doors soon, including Supperland in Plaza Midwood and a new Shake Shack location in Huntersville, just to name a couple.

That isn’t to say, however, that there weren’t local closures last month. Gigi’s Cupcakes in February announced its forthcoming closure in the SouthPark area as did Tizzerts Bakery in south Charlotte.

Restaurants and bars in North Carolina received some welcome news last week, as Gov. Roy Cooper eased pandemic-related restrictions due to improving Covid metrics.

The latest installment of Restaurant Bites rounds up the latest restaurant, brewery and bar happenings in the Charlotte area as reported by CBJ staffers in February. Check it out here.
