Restaurant Bites: What’s new and what’s coming to a menu near you

Several establishments across Charlotte served customers for the last time in February.

That includes longtime brunch favorite Tupelo Honey Cafe, which shuttered its South End location after about seven years, though the popular restaurant is relocating to uptown’s Bank of America Plaza sometime this month. Other drinking and dining spots to close in recent weeks include Bold Missy Brewery in NoDa, Holler & Dash in Sedgefield (it will be replaced by Maple Street Biscuit Co.), three local Fuzzy’s Taco Shop locations, and The People’s Market and The Queen & Glass in Dilworth.

South End, however, remained a hot spot in February for new bars opening. Charlotte Beer Garden debuted to large crowds at 1300 S. Tryon St., and craft cocktail bar Elsewhere opened its cozy space within the Design Center of the Carolinas complex.

And breweries continue to set roots in the outlying areas of the Charlotte region. That includes new craft-beer operations in Kannapolis, Denver and Newton.
