Rock Hill man left for dead on side of road

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The family of a Rock Hill man wants to know who struck him with a car and left him unconscious on the side of the road.

A neighbor found 49-year-old Eric Joseph Friday night at the corner of Soulsville and Stan Stella roads just feet away from his house.

He's at Carolinas Medical Center Wednesday night fighting for his life.

His father, Sammie Joseph, took Eyewitness News to the exact location where he found his only living son lying on his back in the grass.

"At first I thought he was beat up. The doctor said, 'No, that was a car that hit him,'" Sammie Joseph said.

He said the driver of the vehicle was nowhere to be found after the accident.

Now, his son is suffering from severe brain damage, a crushed jaw and he's on life support.

York County investigators have not said if they're investigating a hit-and-run. They will only say they're trying to determine how Joseph was injured.

If you have any information, call police.
