Men arrested after recording themselves throwing firecrackers at chained dogs

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police arrested two men after three dogs were abused in Rock Hill.

According to detectives, video evidence shows a man throwing fireworks at three dogs that were chained up and unable to escape.

Police said one man recorded video of the other throwing dozens of fireworks so that they exploded in front of the dogs. The dogs were cowering and trying to escape.

Tevin Anderson, 25, was arrested Tuesday on three charges of ill treatment of animals and possession of crack cocaine.

Deangelo Roseboro, 21, who is wanted on three charges of ill treatment of animals, was arrested late Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Anderson threw the fireworks while Roseboro took the video.

Roseboro was out on bond on accessory charges in connection to the murder of a Chester city councilman, according to the Herald of Rock Hill.

A York County Animal Control officer reported the dogs all having injuries.

The dogs that police said were chased and tortured with fireworks are still friendly and playful, which is amazing, York County animal control officials said.

"They are very lucky to not be more scared physically and mentally," Chief Animal Control Officer Jenna Mullinax said.

Anderson said he is the owner of the dogs and he they were not trying to hurt them but police said the dogs were helpless targets.

"One of the puppies went into the doghouse to try to get away, and they threw fireworks into the doghouse," Rock Hill Police Department Capt. Mark Bollinger said.

An arrest on these charges will likely keep Roseboro behind bars until the trial.

"If he sees this, it would better if he just turned himself in on these charges," Bollinger said earlier in the day.
