ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Rockingham police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year, and they believe it may have been self-defense.

Police told Channel 9 that Rico Shelton was found shot to death around 10:30 p.m. Monday inside a home on Richmond Road.
Investigators believe Shelton was shot and killed after breaking into the home.
No arrests have been made.
