SALISBURY - A Salisbury native was murdered in Honduras in what authorities are calling a paid assassination. Ronald Kenerly worked and owned a few businesses in Honduras and was killed outside of his office there. His son Dwight Kenerly got a disturbing phone call from a woman who worked for his 65-year old-father.

“All I got out of her is that my father had been killed,” D. Kenerly said.

He says he later learned that his father had been shot in the head by a man paid the equivalent of $500 to kill him.

Kenerly says the suspect hasn’t said who hired him for the murder, but he expects justice in his father’s death. He says he was well-liked, kind, and hard-working.

“If there was something that needed to be done, he would find a way to get it done,” D. Kenerly said. “And he would help anybody that he could.”

Ronald Kenerly will be buried in Salisbury, his hometown.
