Salvation Army bell ringer hopes to set record

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Salvation Army bell ringer is hoping to set a ringing record.

Jessica Chapman is collecting for the Salvation Army for 27 straight hours at the EpiCentre.

She started at midnight Thursday and will finish at 3 a.m. Friday. That means no sleeping and only eating meals while ringing the bells.

“People are out having a good time and enjoying themselves in the holiday season,” Chapman said. “So I'd love them to pause, come stop by and talk to me and hopefully donate.”

Besides setting a record for bell ringing, Chapman hopes to raise $5,000.
