WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — Two huge semitrailers rolled out of the Samaritan’s Purse’s disaster relief warehouse Tuesday morning, headed to Tennessee after two tornadoes struck the state, killing 22 people, officials said.
The trucks left North Wilkesbororo hauling equipment including chainsaws and tarps for at least 150 volunteers to go to work.
Samaritan’s Purse continues to monitor the damage assessment to determine where to direct trucks and volunteers.

“One community I drove by had a number of roofs that had been blown away. Anywhere from exposed plywood to half the roof literally missing, at least 50 homes in that one neighborhood that I could see from the interstate," said program manager Keeth Willingham.
