Sandy Le's family thanks community who helped search for her

The family of a Charlotte woman who was missing for a week before police found her body are gathering to say farewell to her and thank you to the community who had helped them search for her.

Police found 23-year-old Sandy Le in some woods along Robinson Church Road in Cabarrus County and her family is now laying her to rest.

“She had a unique gift in that she could light up a room just by walking in,” her uncle David Le said.

He said her family and friends want to celebrate her life and not mourn her death. They also want to say thank you to the dozens of people, and police officers who helped search for her and who have kept showing their support.

“I'm not surprised that people came out and helped because there are good people out there,” Le said.

Police want to question two teenagers who disappeared with Sandy two weeks ago.

They say 17-year-old Alex Castillo and 19-year-old Ahmia Feaster turned up in Arizona driving Le’s car and police believe the two are now in Mexico.

But that’s a world away from where Sandy Le’s family is now -- in the quiet place between hope and heartbreak.

“We don't want to hold that grudge to the people that caused her death.  We want people to know her for what she is,” David Le said.

“In our religion, we don't focus on who took her life. Right now we're focused on how to help her to go to heaven and go with God and rest in peace,” added her aunt, Kim Ly.
