• Police: Man who shot girlfriend later shot by officer


    KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - State agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Kannapolis.

    Police said a man shot a woman, and then pointed the gun at an officer, who opened fire.

    The man and woman are in critical condition at area hospitals with gunshot wounds.

    Police said the female victim is Debra Dixon.

    The suspect is Allen Jenkins, police said.

    Police haven't yet released the name of the officer who opened fire. The officer has been placed on administrative leave.

    The State Bureau of Investigations is conducting its own investigation.
