SC health leaders to provide update on state’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout efforts

SOUTH CAROLINA — South Carolina state health leaders will give an update on the work they are doing to stop the spread of COVID-19.

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control Director Dr. Brannon Traxler will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. Monday.

She is expected to fill us in on the state’s vaccine rollout efforts.

South Carolina continues to have one of the slowest vaccine rollouts in the country. The CDC said South Carolina’s vaccine distribution rate is the worst of any state.

Only Alabama and Georgia have slower vaccination rates.

Over the weekend, South Carolina’s Hospital Association said the number of doses they are going to receive this week is about four times smaller than what they requested.
