SOUTH CAROLINA — An eighth-grader in South Carolina is stepping up to fill the need of medical supplies during the coronavirus pandemic.
Harry Ding collected more than 600 medical-grade masks, 100 pairs of gloves and $4,000 -- plus, he did it all in three days!
The Mount Pleasant teen started a donation drive after he heard hospitals needed supplies like face masks.
“When I worked on this project, I realized that age doesn’t really matter,” Ding said. “What matter is the impact you leave on people and if you can make a greater impact then, it’s worth dozens more than just being old, you know.”
Ding hopes his efforts can also shine a light on the Charleston Chinese community and help put a stop to the bias against Asian-Americans.
