School bus carrying 22 students involved in accident in Matthews

MATTHEWS, N.C. — A school bus was involved in an accident in Matthews on Thursday.

The crash occurred on Highway 51 at Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
                                           
School officials said there were 22 students on the bus and no one was injured.

A truck rear-ended the bus.
 
The bus was carrying students from Butler High School.

A second accident occurred nearby when a vehicle ran into a fire truck that was responding to the bus accident.

Driver of the truck and the driver of the car suffered minor injuries, according to officials.
