CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The La Fiesta Grande Mexican restaurant near Mountain Island Lake in northwest Charlotte was robbed and the owner shared surveillance video with Channel 9 in hopes of catching the burglar.
The business was robbed at about 5 a.m. Thursday
"We’re a friendly neighborhood business,” co-owner Adolfo Pena-Herrera said. ‘We have a lot of locals coming over here."
The man was caught on the security camera kicking the glass door in and go to the cash register.
"I believe it's a local because he knows this place very well," Pena-Herrera said.
The police are hoping that someone in the community will spot something they recognize.
The man did not steal anything from the register, but he did run off with the safe.
"That's how I pay my employees,” the owner said of the safe. “So, for them not to think about that, makes me really angry."
