Man wanted in fatal December shooting arrested in Maryland

ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — An Anson County man is in federal custody, accused of murder after being on the run for weeks

Reginald O'Dell is accused of shooting and killing a mother of three in December.

O'Dell was at the top of Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen's most wanted list for six weeks.

"We really wanted to find him," Allen's said. "We felt like he was a threat to the community, and we felt like there was some danger involved and we wanted him in custody."

O'Dell had been a fugitive since Dec. 30, when investigators said he was at this home in Lilesville and a party with friends turned violent.

"A disagreement occurred between them and then the assault occurred," Allen said.

Detectives said O'Dell fired at least six shots at the homeowner, Hason Pressley.

The bullets were meant for Pressley but also struck and killed Dorian Myles, a mother of three, according to investigators.

"She may have been at the wrong place at the wrong time," Allen said.

Local and state agents tracked O'Dell to Baltimore, Md., where they said his family members live.

Authorities said O'Dell rented an apartment under someone else's name - and was apparently planning to live there until U.S. marshals burst through his door this morning.

"I don't think he was in any hurry to come back to Anson County but now he will," the sheriff said.
