Sorting out options for college football in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Covid-19 sent Charlotte’s neutral-site college football game between Notre Dame and Wake Forest packing earlier this month. Now, the pandemic might be the cause of the game returning.

That is just one of several uncertain, potentially intriguing scenarios as local organizers navigate a sports landscape different from any in recent memory.

“The biggest thing is just the clear uncertainty,” said Steve Hall, principal at Signature Sports Group, referring to the challenges faced by the sports foundation and other organizers. “You can try and navigate things and come up with plans and it changes the next day.”
