CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Tests revealed Keith Scott's fingerprints, DNA and blood were on a gun recovered at Tuesday’s officer-involved shooting scene, police sources told Channel 9 reporter Mark Becker.

Scott was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer in University City.

Police said they have video of the shooting.

Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts said she believes that the video should be released, but she said it's a matter of timing.

When asked if she saw a gun on the video of Keith Scott being shot, Roberts answered, “There were two videos I was able to see, the visual clarity made those videos inconclusive.”

CMPD Chief Kerr Putney said police have handed the investigation over to the State Bureau of Investigation, but he was still fielding questions about the video and why police haven’t released it Friday at a news conference.

Scott’s family saw one and possibly two videos Thursday that show the final moments leading up to the shooting. The family has called for it to be released.

Click to watch: Putney stands by decision to not release video

Putney said he has seen two videos, presumably the same ones, and he said they are inconclusive.

“I know there's at least one body cam and one dash cam that I've reviewed, we’re still working through all others involved," Putney said.

He again stood by his decision not to release them.

“If I were to put it out indiscriminately and it doesn’t give you good context, it can inflame the situation and make it even worse. It will exacerbate the backlash. It will increase the distrust,” Putney said.
