Man charged with attempted murder escapes police custody

Authorities are on the hunt for 23-year-old Deqwon Mykel Blackmon Friday night after they said he escaped custody about 4 p.m. on the way to the Lancaster County Detention Center.
Investigators said they arrested Blackmon and charged him with attempted murder in connection with his involvement in a triple shooting that happened Saturday on Highway 9 Bypass.
Blackmon managed to escape when the transporting deputy was attempting walk him into the Detention Center, according to a news release from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

He fled into the woods, and personnel with the Sheriff’s Office, K-9 tracking team, police department, State Law Enforcement Division and police helicopter were called to the area to aid in the manhunt. 

Blackmon is still on the loose Friday night. He was unarmed at the time of his escape but should be considered dangerous.
