South Boulevard shopping center to get a makeover

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new branch of local real estate firm New Forum Inc. has purchased a retail center in the Madison Park area of Charlotte, with plans of revamping the site.

The acquisition of the Seneca Place shopping center, located at the corner of South Boulevard and Seneca Place — in between East Woodlawn and Tyvola roads — marks the first such transaction for New Forum’s recently launched division dedicated to new development opportunities and acquisitions.

Mecklenburg County property records show the 4.2-acre Seneca Place property at 5033 South Blvd. sold for $5 million on Aug. 24.

Seneca Place, which dates back to 1985, encompasses a 34,710-square-foot strip center with brick facade and a 6,600-square-foot outparcel. New Forum expects to invest $1 million in improving the center, including a redesigned exterior, and will rebrand it as Madison Corners.
