CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Over 500 people were without power Sunday evening into Monday morning after a car hit a power pole in southeast Charlotte Sunday.
Duke Energy reported 474 outages in the area and the power was not expected to be back on until 8:00 a.m.
The accident happened around 6 p.m. Sunday when a car crashed into a power pole on Rama Road at Lynbrook Drive.
Officials say the pole was completely snapped off and a man was trapped inside the vehicle with active power lines surrounding the vehicle.
Paramedics said the man suffered serious injuries.
All lanes of Rama Road have been reopened.
