Companies propose homeowner insurance rate changes

RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Insurance announced on Jan. 3 that it received a filing from insurance companies requesting to raise homeowners insurance rates by a statewide average of approximately 25 percent, according to a news release from the Department of Insurance.

The filing also requests revisions to the geographic-rating territories for homeowners insurance.
