NORTH CAROLINA — Starting this week, families across the Carolinas who depend on food stamps may need to make up for major cuts.

Stimulus money that boosted the food stamp program will run out Friday.

The average family of three will lose about $30 worth of food per month.

In North Carolina, more than 1.7 million people use food stamps, compared to 875,000 in South Carolina.
