Stores open earlier to catch shoppers before Black Friday

PINEVILLE, N.C. — Some people have been lined up since 11 p.m. Wednesday in Pineville.

They had to fight a cold morning and now a 24-hour wait for these does to open, but they say it's worth it.

Some stores are already open Next door to Best Buy. K-mart opened at 6 a.m. Thursday.

They will be open until 4 p.m., close a few hours and reopen at 8 p.m.

Some other major retailers are doing the same this year, opening on Thanksgiving to try to catch dedicated shoppers looking for the best deals.

Eyewitness News caught up with one woman who said she was able to get good deals on some of her gifts Thursday, while beating the large crowds expected tomorrow.

"I went in. I didn't have to wait outside. I walked right in, went through the aisles, didn't have to fight the crowds and I didn't even wait to check out. I just walked right up. It's awesome, I love it," said shopper Margaret Carey.

The Pineville Best Buy opens at midnight and other retailers are opening later Thursday or early Friday morning.
