Sunday morning accident knocks out power, sends 1 to hospital

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An accident Sunday morning knocked out power and sent one person to the hospital.

The accident was on Providence Road near Rutledge Avenue.

Police said it happened around 3:30 a.m.

The car flipped and trapped the driver inside.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off of the car to get the driver out.

A neighbor who heard the crash called 911.

Crews from Duke Energy had to shut down Providence Road to fix the utility pole, but the road is now back open.
