Surveillance video released of killer's car in Clemson murder case

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. — Detectives in Pickens County, South Carolina have released surveillance video of a car they believe the killers of a student from Ft. Mill were driving.

Steve Grich, a sophomore engineering student at Clemson, was shot and killed Saturday night at his home near Clemson.

Detectives do not believe Grich's killers knew him and they are asking for help identifying the black Dodge Durango that was seen leaving the gated community shortly after the shooting.

In Ft. Mill, Grich's family is still stunned by his murder.

"It's not sunk in, and it might not ever sink in," said his father, Steve Grich.

"We miss him--we wish him happiness. We know he's at peace," said his mother, Lynn Grich.

But it is Shawn Grich, Steve's younger brother, who may have known him best.

"He taught me more about life than anyone could. More than any teacher, more than any professor," Shawn said Monday.

The toughest question for Grich's family is, why? Detectives do not believe he knew his killers and his family is at a loss.

"I just wish he had more time on this earth," Shawn said.

"He's left a loving brother and a loving family behind," his mother added.
