BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A man suspected of sexual assault in Burke County is now awaiting extradition to Missouri on child molestation charges there, authorities say.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office said Eric Taylor, 39, is being held on $2 million bond awaiting an Aug. 28 extradition hearing.

Burke County authorities became involved in investigating Taylor after deputies were called to the CHS-Blueridge Hospital in Morganton on July 1 for a report of a sexual assault.

The investigation into the case in North Carolina is continuing, and charges in North Carolina may still be filed.
