Taking a look at myths on wearing masks

CHARLOTTE — Many people are talking about an article in the highly respected “New England Journal of Medicine” that read, “Wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection.”

The article said people are not likely to get the virus during a quick encounter in a public space, but you are likely to get it in "sustained interactions within closed environments".

So, a quick run to the gas station is far safer than a longer meeting at work or in a restaurant, according to the report.

Now, there are concerns about the effectiveness of wearing masks.
