Teen found shot to death inside Albemarle home, police say

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Albemarle police are investigating after a 17-year-old was found shot to death inside a house early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened just after 2:30 a.m. on Inger Avenue.

Officials said when officers got to the house, they found Joseph Marcell Desouza lying on the floor, unconscious and with no pulse.

Police provided first aid to Desouza until EMS crews arrived, but they were unable to revive him, and he died at the scene.

Officers said witnesses reported seeing either a gray or gold/silver Honda Accord in the area at the time of the shooting and believe the car could be involved.

Police have not said what may have led to the shooting and no arrests have been made.

The North Carolina Bureau of Investigations is assisting police with the investigation.
